The Supermodels agency's opinion of D-MAX management

This information was revised after we received a letter from D-MAX management.

The D-MAX models (management) agency was founded by Belgian photographer Xavier F.J Bonhomme together with Violeta Repčenkaitė. Violeta later fell out with her partner and set up her own agency in Lithuania, "AMBER model agency", with herself as its face. Amber model agency was later renamed Metropolitan.

Before he and Violeta founded D-MAX models, the agency's current director met the owners of the Supermodels agency and proposed working together, presenting a plan to destroy the agencies operating at the time: Baltic Models, Modilinos and Exemplum. The rejection of this plan marked the beginning of the conflict between the agencies. The agency does have a few models who work well, although it likes to inflate its numbers considerably when talking about its achievements.

The agency publishes its own fashion website, Exonline, where it presents one-sided and biased information. For publishing such information, the DMAX agency is mired in court cases. After losing a case and the rights to its names, Exonline had to change its name to exmada.

FACTS about DMAX Models

  1. UAB "Emos Modeliai", known on the market as the DMAX models model agency, lost civil case No. 2-6416-171/2007, in which the court found that UAB "Emos Modeliai", otherwise known as the model agency "DMAX models", had published false and unfounded information about model agencies operating in Lithuania, as well as an unfounded and entirely negative assessment of an advertisement by the Supermodels model agency of UAB "Elektroniniai Sprendimai".
  2. UAB "Emos Modeliai", known on the market as the DMAX models model agency, is hiding from law enforcement. It tries in various ways to avoid receiving correspondence, court documents and bailiffs' enforcement orders, both at its stated business addresses in Kaunas and Vilnius and at the company's registered address.
  3. The D-MAX Models trademark has been seized. To enforce the judgment effectively, and given that the amount to be recovered is large and the debtor DMAX models has no realisable assets to cover its liabilities to creditors, a decision was made to record the property rights of UAB "Emos modeliai" (company code 126291247) to the D-MAX trademark registered in its name, registration No. 50883, and to prohibit the company from disposing of it.
  4. UAB "Emos Modeliai", known on the market as the DMAX models model agency, was fined for publishing defamatory information and for failing to comply with a court ruling. On 10 January 2008, Vilnius City District Court ordered UAB "Emos Modeliai" (the "D-Max models" model agency) to pay UAB "Elektroniniai Sprendimai" (the "Supermodels" model agency) 50000 lt in non-pecuniary damages, plus legal costs.
  5. UAB "Emos modeliai", known on the market as the DMAX models model agency, carries out no real economic activity,
  6. as law enforcement authorities can see no financial transactions. If models are working but there are no official financial transactions, then either off-the-books accounting is taking place, the money is going to other companies, or there is simply no activity at all, despite claims to the contrary. All of this is being investigated by the Valstybinė Mokesčių Inspekcija (VMI, the State Tax Inspectorate of Lithuania) on suspicion of fraudulent accounting.
  7. Domains seized: exonline.lt, dmaxmodels.lt. Bailiffs have seized the domains belonging to UAB "Emos Modeliai", which is not paying its debts. These domains will soon be sold at auction or transferred to the "Supermodels" agency of UAB "Elektroniniai Sprendimai" to cover part of the debt.
  8. The seized domains and the DMAX trademark have been taken away and transferred to Supermodels as partial repayment of the debt.

Rumours and reviews about the Dmax model agency

  • The agency's director, Xavier Bonhomme, defaced the building of the Seimas (Parliament) of the Republic of Lithuania
(Supermodels note: Yes, this really happened, and the story was widely covered on television. The only person who can explain why he did it is the director himself
  • The agency defames other agencies and models
(Supermodels note: Yes, this is true. On its Exonline website the agency actively publishes false and defamatory information not only about our agency but also about other Lithuanian model agencies, models and well-known public figures
The agency can no longer legally operate without the permission of the Supermodels Model Management agency. The DMAX trademark belongs to Supermodels.

Supermodels verdict

Given the legal proceedings and the defamation case, the Supermodels agency cannot hold a good opinion of DMAX models. We leave it to the girls themselves and their parents to decide whether an agency with such a reputation, and which behaves in this way, can be a reliable partner.

====Update====

The "Dmax models" model agency of UAB "Emos modeliai" lost the defamation case in court. The owner of "Dmax models" is currently hiding from bailiffs to avoid the penalties awarded by the court. The "Dmax models" trademark and the web addresses dmaxmodels.lt and exonline.lt were seized and transferred to "Supermodels model management", the agency that won the case. "Dmax models" is trying to ignore the court rulings and continues to operate under various other names.

Inaccurate and other alternative names: D-Max, Dmax, Dmaxmodels, Dmax models, Dimaxas, Dmax management, dmax modelmanagement
